1394b is a version of the 1394 multimedia standard, supplement for the original IEEE1394-1995 and 1394a-2000 specificatons and lead to expanded adoption of the multimedia standard in many new applications. 1394b not only can provide bandwidth, speed, and distance but also cost-efficiency improvements over the original specifications. It enables the extension of standard first to 800 Mbps & 1.6 Gbps.
Supply Versatility
1394b provides two modes of transmission: pure 1394b 'beta' mode and 'bilingual' mode.
The term "bilingual" means it can connect both beta mode with the data-strobe signaling method that used in previous 1394 implementations and in legacy products (backward compatibility).
COMOSS has started developing 1394b connectors (FireWire connector) for both beta and bilingual modes in the end of year 2000.
COMOSS is not only capable of offering 1394-1995, 1394a-2000 and 1394b copper connectors and cable assemblies but also 1394b POF/GOF patch cords; IDB-1394b copper connectors can cable assemblies as a means to providing one-stop solutions to the market.
