Overview

FECOX Series is capable of carrying IEEE0802.3 100BaseFX Ethernet signals over long coaxial cables. This makes it useful for carrying fast Ethernet traffic between IP cameras and IP based DVRs or Frame stores over legacy 75Ω cables. FECOX Series transmission system allows power to be sent over the same cable as its signals and this feature is exploited in this reference design to power PoE enabled remote devices. FECOX Series comes in two parts, a Master, or host side adaptor which takes power and a Slave or remote side adaptor which supplies power. The majority of this document uses the terminology “Master” and “Slave” to refer to the se adaptors.

• The FECOX is a paired design (2 devices):
  1. Master (transmit converter) which links to Hybrid DVRs/NVRs or Ethernet Switches
  2. Slave (receive converter) which links to an IP camera or device at the remote end.
• PoE (Power over Ethernet) is supplied over the coaxial cable to power devices on the receive end, up to 270meters.
• PoC (Power over Cable) is supplied over the coaxial cable to power the IP over coaxial dongles, up to 270 meters.
• Full-duplex bidirectional communication over a single coax supporting: Fast- and Gigabit Ethernet, LVDS, IEEE1394b (S800 and lower data rates) and MOST (automotive).
• Developed for Low Emissions and High Immunity (automotive applications).
• Supported Fast Ethernet @ 125 Mbps, 180 m over RG6 coaxial cable.
• Designed to simultaneously transmit and receive signals on a single 75Ω coaxial cable up to 1.25 Gbps in both ways.
• Power can be delivered in parallel over the same coaxial cable by a current up to 900mA. Compatible with LVDS, CML and other NRZ differential signaling methods.
